Former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell called an end to his career back in 2010. That being said, the former title holder has since decided to come out of retirement.
Speaking on The MMA Hour, “The Iceman” went on to reveal that he is interested in facing off against fellow former champion Tito Ortiz for a trilogy rematch. However, Liddell also mentioned an interest in taking on other former champion Jon Jones.
Jones and Liddell would go on to enter a heated trash-talking exchange over social media, as Jones was seemingly amused by the fight interest. Taking to Instagram, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently decided to honor Chuck Liddell for his final bout against Rich Franklin.
“#OnThisDay in 2010… Rich Franklin and Chuck Liddell gave us a round for the ages in Liddell’s final bout.”
Commenting on the social media message, Jon Jones dropped the following response:
“Exactly why Chuck doesn’t need to be calling out anyone in the top 5 right now. A lot has changed since the good ole sprawl and brawl days”
