Miocic: ‘I always want the best for D.C… But I’m here to fight’

UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is set to defend his title from rising challenger and reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Now Miocic has come forward to reveal that despite their upcoming match up, the heavyweight title holder hopes Cormier the best in his endeavors.

Cormier and Miocic are set to throw down for the live pay-per-view main event of UFC 226. The fight card will take place July 7 from inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Speaking to MMA Weekly, Stipe Miocic revealed that he has no ill will for his opponent.

“It’s business. I always want the best for him, but unfortunately, he’s gotta fight me though. It’s business. Like I said, that’s what I signed up for.

“I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to fight.”
