Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey put on a stunningly dominant performance inside the octagon, until she faced off against Holly Holm. Holm managed to knock out Rousey for the title, shocking the world with the first victory over the Olympic Judo medalist.
Rousey would go on to suffer a tough TKO loss to now reigning champion Amanda Nunes. Since then, Rousey has not entered the octagon.
Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently took a moment on his highly popular podcast Joe Rogan Experience to offer a few words on Ronda Rousey’s career. Rogan revealed that he holds himself responsible for hyping Rousey’s career ahead of the Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes fights.
“I pumped her up.” Rogan said. “It was based on what she had actually accomplished. It wasn’t based on bulls**t. It was based on her actual performance inside the octagon against people live Cat Zingano, against people like Sara McMann.”
The cage side commentator would go on to hint that he may perhaps have gone about hyping Rousey a little differently ahead of her Amanda Nunes fight.
