Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping made headlines over the weekend for his trash-talk heavy confrontation with Colby Covington from the UFC on FOX desk. Following Jon Anik’s heated message on the matter, the color-commentator has come forward with an apology.
Colby Covington has become a polarizing figure within the sport of mixed martial arts. The fighter first earned the ire of fans when he called Brazilians “filthy animals” and Brazil a “dump” at UFC Sao Paulo back in 2017.
Well, Covington defeated Brazil native Rafael dos Anjos for the interim welterweight title at UFC 225 on Saturday, June 9. Michael Bisping was acting as an analyst at the UFC on FOX desk for the event and shared in a heated exchange with the newly crowned interim champion after the fight. Their exchange can be seen within the video provided above.
Fellow analyst and color-commentator Jon Anik later took to social media to voice his distaste for Bisping’s words with Covington.
“Was disgraceful. It’s Colby’s night and moment. Pretty stunning that they’d allow an analyst to steal his shine.”
