Despite it’s stacked nature, it would appear as if last weekend’s UFC 225 event did little to get the UFC out of their T.V. ratings slump.
Instead of banking on top ranked talent the likes of Joseph Benavidez and Alistair Overeem, the UFC opted to lure a paying audience in with the second pro fight of CM Punk.
The strategy though, apparently didn’t work, as theLos Angeles Times reports:
The UFC has struggled for pay-per-view buys — as it did Saturday, when an industry official said less than 150,000 purchased the Robert Whittaker-headlined card in Chicago — while the highly popular, animated former champion who has fought from 145 to 170 pounds went skidding off the rails.
