UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw has been targeting a super fight against reigning flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson for some time now. However, negotiations between the two mixed martial artists ultimately fell through.
Now Dillashaw is set to face off against former title holder and former teammate Cody Garbrandt in a highly anticipated title fight rematch. The two will throw down in the main event of UFC 227.
The live pay-per-view will take place Aug. 4 in Los Angeles, Calif. Coincidentally, Demetrious Johnson is now also set to compete on the same card.
In the night’s co-main event, “Mighty Mouse” will be looking to defend his title from rising challenger Henry Cejudo in another title fight rematch. Speaking to TMZ Sports, T.J. Dillashaw revealed that he believes Demetrious Johnson has been ducking him.
When asked, Dillashaw responded “I do believe so.”
“He’s comfortable fighting the guys he’s fighting.” Dillashaw continued. “I think I bring a real threat to the table that he’s not willing to accept.”
