Mixed martial arts veterans Wanderelei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson have thrown down on three different occasions across two different mixed martial arts promotions through the years. Now the fighting phenoms are looking to keep their rivalry alive by taking things inside the Bellator MMA cage.
“Rampage” and Silva first faced off under the Pride banner, with Silva earning a finish over his opponent on both occasions. However, Jackson earned a finish over the Brazil native in their trilogy rematch back at UFC 92. Now nearly a decade later, Wanderlei Silva has announced that he is set to face Jackson for yet another match up on Sept. 29 from within the Bellator cage.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Silva’s head coach Andre Dida revealed that he believes the fighter will earn another finish over “Rampage.”
“Keeping that flame on until the fight, he will surprise ‘Rampage’ and everyone else. He’s working hard, dedicating for this fight. Wanderlei is really hungry.”
“We know he likes to brawl, and that’s great for the fans, who will watch a great fight, and for Wanderlei, because the style matches up well for him. Wanderlei has many weapons to beat Quinton Jackson. Every time Quinton Jackson tried to break Wanderlei standing, Wanderlei went there and broke him. He always tries to go toe-to-toe and ends up dying. We know what to do. Wanderlei is aggressive, everybody knows that, and we’ll keep him at his best for the fight.”
