Interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington has been pushed aside concerning title contention. That being said, it would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has another fight in mind for the interim title holder.
Colby Covington went five rounds with Rafael dos Anjos back at UFC 225 for the interim title. Afterwards, Covington revealed that he needs time to rest and take care of an issue with his sinuses that requires a medical procedure.
Rather than wait on the interim champion, the UFC has locked down reigning title holder Tyron Woodley for a fight against Darren Till at UFC 228 on Sept 8 in Dallas, Texas. Beyond that, Colby Covington is set to be stripped of his interim title the moment the fight begins.
Speaking on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Kamaru Usman has since come forward to claim that the UFC has offered him a fight against Colby Covington for a fight card on Nov. 30 in Las Vegas, Nev.
