Due back in court this Thursday to answer to charges stemming from his UFC fighter transport bus attack, Conor McGregor’s eventual outcome from legal proceedings is expected to be nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
This week TMZ Sports reported that prosecutors are willing to reduce the fighter’s felony charge to a misdemeanor and are willing to drop any jail time in favor of probation.
Without a felony charge, McGregor would likely no longer face the possibility of deportation. The plea deal has yet to be finalized, but is reportedly down to the “fine points.”
In a statement to ESPN, McGregor’s legal team refuted TMZ’s report:
“There is no accuracy to recent tabloid reports speculating about a potential plea for Conor McGregor. We do not, and will not comment on any discussions we may or may not be having with the DA’s office.”
