Now reigning two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar are locked in to throw down inside the octagon. With that in mind, it would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) now has a potential target date for the epic match up.
UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier earned the heavyweight title on Saturday, July 7, after knocking out Stipe Miocic within the first round at UFC 226 for International Fight week. Now MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer has come forward to report that Lesnar will not be available to compete any earlier that Januray.
Check it out below:
“Brock Lesnar was not in the UFC’s drug testing pool as of this past week. He is in the process of doing so, which means the earliest he would be able to fight would be the late January PPV show. WWE was certainly aware of what happened. We had reported weeks ago that this was something that UFC wanted (Lesnar to in person challenge the winner) and that the idea was open, but we didn’t know for sure until yesterday afternoon that Lesnar was coming.”
