UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway was initially set to face off against undefeated rising challenger Brian Ortega in the co-main event of UFC 226. However, the fight never came to be.
Max Holloway was forced to pull out of the fight after suffering concussion-like symptoms. Ever since then, members of the mixed martial arts world have been speculating as to what precisely is ailing the reigning champion.
UFC President Dana White would go on to reveal that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was running Max Holloway through a gauntlet of medical examinations to get to the bottom of the fighter’s problems. Rumors would later sprout up that Holloway was knocked out in training or that the title holder suffered a stroke from his weight cut.
Speaking on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Max Holloway has since come forward to reveal that he has now seen multiple doctors and has still not been given a precise diagnosis. However, Holloway claims he feels better now and looks forward to fighting again.
