Undefeated former One Championship welterweight title holder Ben Askren is now semi-retired. Now it would appear that the talented mixed martial artist recently had some form of negotiations with UFC President Dana White.
Ben Askren retired from the sport of MMA following his first round TKO title defense victory over Shinya Aoki back in 2017. That being said, Askren has since voiced an interest in fighting the likes of reigning UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley or former two-division UFC champion Georges St-Pierre.
Now UFC President Dana White has revealed on a recent edition of the UFC Unfiltered podcast that Ben Askren reached out to him a few months ago and showed an interest in fighting within the UFC. However, White claimed the retired fighter was still under contract.
The UFC president then claimed he is interested in signing Ben Askren, if the fighter is ever released from his current contract. Of course, Askren and White have not always been on the best of terms. Still, it would appear that the two are interested in negotiating.
