Notorious limb destroyer Rousimar Palhares was ushered back into the viral world of MMA last week, when a new photo of him surfaced on-line, showing that Palhares has put on some serious muscle since we last saw him.
Palhares, a former UFC middleweight and welterweight contender, was removed from the UFC roster after a string of unfortunate events. The Brazilian grappling ace built a reputation for holding on to submissions way beyond acceptable limits, and it’s made him untouchable for most credible MMA promoters.
Now, in a new interview with MMAFighting.com, Palhares addresses his new appearance, even his hair, and brushes off any notion that he’s on steroids.
”I did [the haircut and mustache] for fun. A friend of mine is working as a hair stylist now and wanted to do that haircut, so I let him do it, and some guys came over to the gym on the same day for interviews. Everyone is talking about it. Some people like it, some people made fun of it, but it’s cool.
“[My wife] liked it, and also thought it’s funny. My wife is my partner for life, she helps me with everything. but she think it’s funny. She didn’t criticize, though, so that’s a good start [laughs].”
“People say whatever they want [about steroid use] to try to diminish your work, so that doesn’t bother me at all.”
