Rumors have been swirling around that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is being targeted for the main event of UFC 230 later this year. However, UFC President Dana White has since squashed that rumor.
UFC 230 is set to take place Nov. 3 from within the illustrious Madison Square Garden in New York and will feature the massive octagon return of Nate Diaz in the night’s co-headliner. That being said, the live pay-per-view event has yet to land an official headliner.
Jon Jones was recently granted a 15-month suspension from USADA for his UFC 214 drug test failure. The suspension is retroactive to the date of the anti-doping policy violation, leaving Jones sidelined only until Oct. 28, 2018.
Still, UFC President Dana White appeared at the UFC 229 press conference in New York on Sept. 20 and stated that Jon Jones will, in fact, not be the headliner for UFC 230. White expects the former champion to not make an octagon return until early 2019.
