UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently set to take on UFC megastar Conor McGregor. That being said, Nurmagomedov’s father and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov already has his sights set on the next match up for “The Eagle.”
Nurmagomedov will take on “Notorious” in the main event of UFC 229. The live pay-per-view fight card will go down Oct. 6.
With “The Eagle” having been booked to fight former interim champion Tony Ferguson on four separate occasions, with each fight ultimately having been cancelled, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov still wants to see the undefeated UFC lightweight champion face “El Cucuy.”
“For the hype, for the money, to bury Conor’s era it (the situation) is even better for us,” Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov said, speaking to RT Sport. “But if we talk purely sports-wise — we still want the Ferguson fight. I really want him to come back and defeat (Anthony) Pettis.”
“The intrigue is still there, and the whole world is interested (in the Ferguson fight). It would be 11 and 0 Khabib [in the UFC], 11 and 0 for him. And the fight that hasn’t happened yet,”
