UFC megastar Conor McGregor ventured out into the world of professional boxing back in 2017. Having taken on undefeated pugilist legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a massive pay-per-view success, “Notorious” ultimately suffered a tough TKO defeat in the tenth round of their match up.
While the Ireland native suffered a tough loss, McGregor and Mayweather still each walked away with reportedly massive paydays from the event. Conor McGregor has since booked his big octagon return, though Floyd Mayeather Sr. believes a McGregor vs. Mayweather rematch may be on the horizon.
Conor McGregor is currently set to fight undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229, live on pay-per-view Oct. 6. Speaking to MMA reporter Helen Yee, Floyd Mayweather Sr. has since come forward to claim that his undefeated and since re-retired boxing legend son is currently considering a rematch against the UFC megastar.
“He’s talking like him and Conor McGregor are going to fight.” Mayweather Sr. said. “That’s what it sounds like.”
“I don’t know for sure, but I’m just saying the way things are sounding right not to me.” Mayweather Sr. continued. “It sounds like he’s going to fight again.”
