Nicco Montano was pulled from her intended fight against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 228 over the weekend. Now, however, the former title holder has come forward to accuse Shevchenko of fearing her.
Nicco Montano was initially set to defend her UFC women’s flyweight title from Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event of UFC 228’s live pay-per-view from Sept. 8. However, Montano was rushed to the hospital for kidney issues suffered during her weight cut the Friday before fight night.
On just one day’s notice, the title fight was cancelled and Montano was stripped of her title. Speaking on The MMA Hour, Montano has now come forward with her thoughts on Valentina Shevchenko.
“I think she lives in la la land for a reason. I think she really wanted that to happen, unless she’s another Mrs. Cleo and has a (psychic) job, because she’s good at that. But I think she was hoping for it. I think she’s a little scared to fight somebody like me. I think deep down she was hoping this fight was not going to happen so that she could have more ammo to be a cyber bully and she wouldn’t have to face me in the Octagon.”
