Former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko was initially set to fight for the UFC women’s flyweight title on Sept. 8. However, Nicco Montano pulled out of the match up on one day’s notice. Now it would appear that the UFC may be looking to lock down “Bullet” in a title fight against a former champion.
Nicco Montano was initially set to defend her title in the co-main event of UFC 228. After pulling out of the match up, Montano was stripped of her title and the fight was cancelled.
UFC President Dana White has since claimed that Valentina Shevchenko is being targeted for a vacant UFC women’s flyweight title fight against a yet undecided opponent. Well, Middle Easy has now come forward to report a new rumor that former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk may be moving to the weight class to fight Valentina Shevchenko for the title.
Check out Middle Easy‘s original report down below.
“Now that the UFC’s women flyweight title is vacant, a few names have started to pop up to chase the belt. Valentina Shevchenko’s spot is set. Rumor is Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Roxanne Modafferi and TBD bantamweight moving down are the leading contenders for a flyweight title fight.”
