Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov leaped out of the octagon directly after submitting Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on Oct. 6. Nurmagomedov attacked one of McGregor’s teammates and sparked a massive fracas between the fight camps.
During the incident, Nurmagomedov’s teammate Zubaira Tukhugov allegedly attacked Conor McGregor. As a result, the UFC went on to ban the fighter from competing within the promotion.
Khabib Nurmagomedov went on to issue an ultimatum. The fighter explained that he would leave the UFC if his teammate was not reinstated within the promotion. UFC President Dana White has since claimed to have worked things out with Khabib Nurmagomedov and claims the Dagestan native is no longer threatening to leave the promotion.
Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, infamous for his many alleged human rights violations within the Chechen Republic, recently took to social media to offer the fighter a place within his own Akhmat MMA organization if the UFC does not reinstate him.
Check out a translation of the message down below.
“Zubair, you know who you are and where you’re from!” Kadyrov said on his various social media accounts (h/t RT.com). “I remember you from when a spritely young boy from the Tukhugov family regularly fought in the fields near Tsentaroy. You are not on your own, don’t worry about that. You have us – your countrymen. You have the best club under the sun – Akhmat MMA, which arranges fights for you on the highest possible level.”
