Stipe Miocic holds the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses within the heavyweight division. Still, Daniel Cormier knocked out the Cleveland native within the first round of their UFC 226 main event earlier this year.
Following the fight, D.C. called out Brock Lesnar, a former champion that is currently suspended for a failed drug test from UFC 200. Meanwhile, Stipe Miocic has been campaigning for an immediate rematch against the reigning two-division champion.
Rather than pick up a fight against Miocic, Daniel Cormier is now set to fight Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 230 on Nov. 3. D.C. has even gone on to claim that Stipe Miocic is “too good” to fight on just weeks notice. Rather, the reigning title holder would want a full fight camp.
Now taking to Twitter, Stipe Miocic has come forward with a new statement on the matter. Check it out below.
“One time is fluke. I broke the record for most consecutive HW title defenses. @dc_mma that’s why you ducked me Nov 3. I guarantee things end differently next time. #HWGOAT”
