UFC Officials Release Statement On Nick Diaz’s Charges For Alleged Domestic Violence
UFC star and mixed martial arts veteran Nick Diaz was arrested on Friday, May 25, and is now facing charges of domestic battery. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has now decided to offer an official statement concerning the matter.
Diaz was arrested by Las Vegas police on Friday and is now being held within the Clark County Detention Center. The former Strikeforce and WEC champion is facing a felony charge of domestic battery by strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
Diaz’s bail has been set to $18,000. However, the fighter must first appear at his court hearing on Saturday, May 26, at 9:00 A.M.
“UFC is aware of the recent arrest of middleweight athlete, Nick Diaz. The organization does not tolerate domestic violence and requires all athletes to adhere to the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. Every athlete is deserving of due process and this situation, as with any official allegations, will be duly reviewed and thoroughly investigated by an independent party.”
Diaz’s close friend Matt Staudt would later take to social media to claim that the fighter was being allegedly framed by a woman that has allegedly been stalking Diaz for years. Staudt’s message may be viewed below:
