Newly crowned two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has placed himself within the conversation for possibly greatest fighter of all time. That being said, D.C. has been far from inviting concerning Anderson Silva or Jon Jones as possible GOATs of the sport. Now Cormier has come forward with a new statement on the matter.
As a light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier moved up in weight to challenge heavyweight title holder Stipe Miocic for his belt back at UFC 226. Well, Cormier made UFC history by knocking out Miocic for the title within the first round.
Speaking on the Slip ‘n Dip Podcast, Daniel Cormier has since come forward with his thoughts on which fighters deserve a spot in the conversation for possibly being the GOAT of mixed martial arts. Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva once held the highly coveted UFC record for most consecutive title defenses with a total of ten.
Beyond that, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is the youngest champion in UFC history. That being said, Daniel Cormier does not believe either fighter deserves a spot in the conversation. After all, Jones and Silva have each failed multiple drug test.
“Demetrious (Johnson), Georges St-Pierre, these guys have none of these bad things tied to their names and these are the guys I should share the conversation with. I’ve never had any negatives and I’ve never had to go in front of any commission and explain why my test came up messed up. That’s why I should be in the conversation because I’ve done things the correct way.”
