UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas shocked the world back at UFC 217. Joanna Jedrzejczyk was the champion at the time and boasted a dominant 14-0 undefeated streak.
Namajunas came in as a hefty underdog in the fight, ultimately earning a stunning first round TKO victory over her opponent. Jedrzejczyk and Namajunas had an immediate rematch at UFC 223, with Namajunas earning a unanimous decision victory over her opponent.
Speaking to the UFC, Rose Namajunas has since come forward to reveal that she is relieved to not be focused on fighting Joanna Jedrzejczyk at the moment.
“I don’t know if necessarily I get to enjoy the title so much as I get to enjoy thinking about somebody else other than Joanna for however long. I’m always enjoying the title as long as I’m blessed to have it in my possession. That’s going to be an everyday thing. Maybe one day me and Joanna’s storylines will meet up again, but it’s nice to not have to think about her for a second.”
