Strawweights Sunna Davidsdottir and Mallory Martin went toe-to-toe in the third bout of tonight’s Invicta FC 22 event in Kansas City.
Much of the first moments stayed on the fence, before the two fighters were split up by the referee. Still fresh, both fighters closed in for a clinch. Davidsdottir managed to land an effective throw, slamming Martin to the mat.
The fighters made their way to their feet, with Davidsdottir rocking Martin with a left hand. Seeing her opponent falter, Davidsdottir poured on the pressure. She ended the round expelling her energy against her rocked opponent.
Second round shooting off, both warriors swiftly began trading blows. Davidsdottir continued to land effective blows, but Martin simply pushed forward on her opponent.
Taking her time in the stand up, Martin managed to rock Davidsdottir near the end of the second round with a powerful left hand. Smothering Davidsdottir in the fence, Martin continued to pour on the pressure, before Davidsdottir managed to tear away from the fence. Martin quickly retorted with a throw, slamming Davidsdottir on the mat to punctuate the second round.
After a wonderful two rounds, the third round was filled with cheers and roars from the lively crowd. Fueled by the excited hoard of fight fans, both fighters poured on the gas for the final round.
After trading with Martin, Davidsdottir managed to sling her opponent onto the mat. Both fighters struggled for dominance on the ground. After failed submissions, the fighters made their way to their feet and continued to trade blows for the remainder of the fight.
