Mackenzie Dern Just Lost, Got Submitted In Latest Competition

BJJ phenom and up-and-coming MMA hopeful Mackenzie Dern has suffered her first submission loss in years.

The 3-0 mixed martial artist returned to Rio de Janeiro for the IBJJF’s Rio Falls competition. In the absolute final, Dern faced three time world champion Bia Mesquita.

Well, Mesquita went on to submit the BJJ phenom in just under two minutes with a choke.

Mackenzie Dern most recently added a unanimous decision victory to her MMA record when she defeated former Golden Gloves champion Katherine Roy at LFA 6.
