Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans says he regrets not hitting fellow former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson while the two coached opposite of each other on The Ultimate Fighter.
On a recent episode of TUF, UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt put his hands on former champion TJ Dillashaw. Despite attacking the other coach, Garbrandt received no punishment. The lack of repercussions for Garbrandt shocked Evans.
“I was kind of surprised,” Evans told FOX Sports. “The only reason I didn’t do it back then was because I thought I’d get kicked off the show. Now that I know that you won’t, I feel like I should have did it.”
Evans and Jackson coached opposite of each other on the 10th season of TUF. With Evans and Jackson’s rivalry, along with fighters such as Roy Nelson, Kimbo Slice, Brendan Schaub, and Matt Mitrione, led to the highest television ratings in the history of the reality series.
Evans went on to fight Jackson at UFC 114 in 2010. Evans went on to win a decision. To this day, UFC 114 is one of the most successful UFC pay-per-view events in history.
