UFC 211 took place over the weekend with a string of interesting matchups. The event took place in Dallas, Texas inside the American Airlines Center. The night featured two title fights, a few exciting upsets and a contentious no contest.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez took on contender Dustin Poirier at UFC 211. The two mixed martial artists each put on a great display. However, the bout was ultimately brought to an end from a contentious blow.
In the second round, Eddie Alvarez pinned his opponent to the cage and began landing knees to the head of Dustin Poirier. To many of the night’s spectators, these were illegal blows to a downed opponent. Dustin Poirier was deemed unable to continue by officials after the vicious blows.
The fight was then officially decided as a no contest. The contentious call has since drawn up a pool of controversy. Now, it would appear that Dustin Poirier has decided to voice his opinion on the matter. A string of Tweets from the mixed martial artist can be found below.
