UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem wants another shot at becoming UFC champion.
Last Saturday, at UFC 213, Overeem earned a close majority decision win over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum. Overeem is now on a two-fight win streak and has a strong claim to being next in line for a heavyweight title opportunity.
On Monday, UFC Heavyweight Stipe Miocic reminded the world that he knocked Overeem out in the first round of their title fight last September.
“Like (Dana White) says “never leave it in the hands of the judges.” KO’d both Overeem and Werdum in the 1st round,” Miocic wrote on his Instagram page.
Overeem responded to Miocic agreeing with him but reminded the champion that he had come close to defeating him.
“it’s true: don’t leave it to the judges: U had me, fair & square with a clean first round finish.. but – u we’re lucky – we were an inch, 1/10 of a microsecond, a small error in detail execution from finishing ‘you’ – in the that same first round with my famous guillotine choke,” Overeem wrote on his Instagram page.
“Your a strong champ, a cool dude I’m sure but the cards are shuffled different this time.. – I’m back and I cannot wait to show u my new hand, respectfully.”
