Paulie Malignaggi Is Not Impressed With Conor’s Punching Power After Joining Camp

Paulie Malignaggi has shared more information about what it was like to spar with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Next month, McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

After sparring with McGregor, Malignaggi didn’t seem too impressed with McGregor’s punching power.

“He’s an above average striker,” Malignaggi said. “Is it oh my god power? No. Oh my god power is very rare.”

Malignaggi went on to say McGregor has decent power and can hurt someone if he lands clean.

“Conor has respectful power and if he hits you clean, and he’s wearing smaller gloves, odds are he’s going to get you attention, or rock you, or drop you,” Malignaggi said.

Lastly, Malignaggi also gave some insight into McGregor’s game plan against Mayweather.

“There are some holes there but there is also a method to what he’s doing,” Malignaggi said. “It came off as a bit strange, but he knows what he wants to do and how he wants to do it.”

Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
