The rivalry between Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw might be right back on track after UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt announced his intended return date.
The two were originally schduled to fight at UFC 213, but a back injury forced the champ out of the bout.
Dillashaw was hoping to remain active with the fight off, and made a very real attempt to move down in weight to face Demetrious Johnson. In the end, “Mighty Mouse” went against the UFC’s wishes and refused to sign the bout agreement.
That brings us back full circle, and the champ is ready.
In a reported text message to MMAFighting.com, the Ohio born Garbrandt stated,
“I want MSG. Feeling a lot better. Hardly doing MMA. It’s been all rehab and strength and conditioning. I can’t wait to get back.”
If Cody gets his wish, the UFC’s return to MSG will be just as stacked as their first. Bisping vs. GSP is the expected headliner, and the rumored return of Joanna Champion is also in the works for the event.
The next MSG show has been dubbed UFC 217 it will broadcast live on pay-per-view. Nov. 4
