The Ultimate Fighting Championhsip is undergoing it’s first bout with corruption since the start of the sport in the late 90’s.
That’s because one of their own fighters, Tae-Hyun Bang is being charged criminally after taking a pay off to lose his fight.
The Sports Integrity Initiative has it:
South Korean prosecutors have indicted mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Bang Tae-hyun for alleged involvement in match-fixing, reports Yonhap news agency.
It is alleged that Tae-hyun accepted a 100 million won (€74,500) bribe to lose an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Fight Night 79 contest against Leo Kuntz in 2015. Bang reportedly decided not to throw the match after UFC officials warned him following a shift in betting patterns on gambling websites.
