Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold received stem cell treatment on his knee.
On Friday, Rockhold posted a video of himself getting the treatment. According to Rockhold, he had stem cells liposuctioned from his lower back, which were then injected into his knee.
Rockhold’s video proves his injury is legit. The former champion was forced to withdraw from his last fight due to his knee injury. In November, Rockhold was scheduled to fight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in a rematch from their title fight in Strikeforce.
Souza has since come out and said he does not believe Rockhold was actually injured.
Rockhold has not fought since losing his UFC middleweight title back in June. At UFC 199, Rockhold was knocked out by current UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping.
Prior to losing his title, Rockhold was on a five-fight win streak. Victories over Costas Philipou, Tim Boetsch, Lyoto Machida, and Bisping earned him a shot at the UFC title. In Dec. 2015, Rockhold won the UFC title by defeating then-champion Chris Weidman by TKO.
