Dwayne Johnson has put on a fascinating career. Both an action film star and a WWE superstar, Johnson has done it all. Well, he’s done plenty of things. Now “The Rock” has come forward to reveal how close he was to signing the UFC for a career in mixed martial arts.
WWE superstars transitioning into the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is certainly not unheard of. Most notably, WWE star Brock Lesnar went on to become a UFC heavyweight champion in his mixed martial arts career.
Phil Brooks, better known by his WWE moniker “CM Punk,” infamously made his octagon debut back in 2016. The pro-wrestler turned fighter suffered a swift loss to Mickey Gall and has not returned to compete inside the octagon since.
Now Dwayne Johnson has revealed over social media that he initially planned to train within the Greg Jackson MMA training camp in hopes of making it into the UFC. But, the WWE superstar eventually changed his mind.
Over Dwayne Johnson’s Twitter account, “The Rock” stated:
“Yup, I considered ufc 10yrs ago. My goal was GregJacksonMMA as my coach & 2 full yrs to train. Smartened up ’cause I prefer my jaw in tact”
