Eddie Alvarez Officially Accepts Poirier Rematch, Now Dustin Turns It Down

No one wanted the rematch between Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier to happen more than Dustin himself. However, the #4 ranked UFC lightweight in the world recently set a deadline for Alvarez to accept the fight, threatening to move on should he not. Alvarez claimed that he was in negotiations with the UFC on a new contract, and would not accept any fight until he and the UFC came to terms on a new deal. He subsequently let Poirier's deadline expire. As luck would have it, Dana White flew out and met with the former UFC lightweight champion to discuss that new deal earlier this week. Then, this afternoon Alvarez sent out a tweet, signifying that he has accepted the bout.
