Breaking: The UFC Just Raised Their PPV Price, Want You To Pay More, For Less

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has decided it was time to raise their pay-per-view price. And this comes on the heels of their new fight cards that place one or two intriguing fights, and leave the rest with unranked unknown fighters. We did a story on this last week. This weekend's UFC 220 event features two title fight, which is awesome! But a look at the entire fight card reveals that that's pretty much all we get. Take a look at the UFC 220 card: Main Card: (PPV) Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou Daniel Cormier vs. Volkan Oezdemir Shane Burgos vs. Calvin Kattar Francimar Barroso vs. Gian Villante Thomas Almeida vs. Rob Font Televised Prelims: (Fox Sports 1) Kyle Bochniak vs. Brandon Davis Sabah Homasi vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan Dustin Ortiz vs. Alexandre Pantoja Dan Ige vs. Julio Arce Online Prelims: (UFC Fight Pass) Enrique Barzola vs. Matt Bessette Maryna Moroz vs. Jamie Moyle Islam Makhachev vs. Gleison Tibau It's the boxing model of fight cards. A top heavy main event, mixed with up and comers on the undercard, and that's a policy UFC president Dana White used to swear that seperated the UFC from boxing. To drive this point home even further, look no further than the pay-per-view after UFC 220. UFC 221 only has one intriguing fight, and it's a replacement fight between Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero. The UFC 221 main event was supposed to be a Whittaker vs. GSP title unification bout. GSP would back out of the deal, and Luke Rockhold would step up. Then, Whittaker pulled out and now we get Rockhold vs. Romero. And of course, Mark Hunt is in the co-main event, which is awesome. However, he's fighting a guy none of you have ever heard of. Take a look at the UFC 221 card: UFC 221 Main Card (PPV): Robert Whittaker vs. Luke Rockhold Curtis Blaydes vs. Mark Hunt Tai Tuivasa vs. Cyril Asker Jake Matthews vs. Li Jingliang Tyson Pedro vs. Saparbek Safarov UFC 221 Preliminary Card (FS1): Damien Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim Rob Wilkinson vs. Israel Adesanya Jeremy Kennedy vs. Alex Volkanovski Jussier Formiga vs. Ben Nguyen UFC 221 Fight Pass Prelims (UFC Fight Pass): Mizuto Hirota vs. Ross Pearson Teruto Ishihara vs. José Alberto Quiñónez Luke Jumeau vs. Daichi Abe Now, if they combined these two cards, and got rid of half the fights, we would have a pay-per-view like we used to love. But instead they will have us all pay twice as much for half the fights. And now adding to that, we will have to pay more per event for them. Just out on UFC.TV is their new pay-per-view price set at $64.99. The price for years has been $59.99. And while $5.00 isn't a huge deal breaker, we are getting less for our money these days.
