Ferguson Admits, ‘Maybe Sharing Conor’s Manager Is A Conflict Of Interest’

UFC lightweight competitor Nate Diaz recently spent some time with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani in a unique edition of The MMA Hour. During the interview, Nate Diaz revealed that he had accepted to face Tony Ferguson at UFC 213.

However, after the fighter and the UFC could not come to terms, the fight was seemingly scrapped. Now, Tony Ferguson has come forward his his view on the scenario.

Nate Diaz claimed that the managers to Tony Ferguson are in secret dealings with the UFC. Ferguson shares managers with lightweight champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor, leading Diaz to claim that the fighter will “cover” for the champion during his time away from the sport.

As transcribed by MMA Junkie, Ferguson said “It had absolutely nothing to do with management, and it had nothing to do with the (expletive) money either. I get paid either way, and I get paid good.” Ferguson said.

But, the lightweight contender did admit that there may be some conflict of interest in sharing management with the champion.

“Maybe you can ask my management … because I was there first, I have yet to receive a title, and the monetary gains from point A and point B are absolutely, completely different,” he said. “The leverage is way off.”
