Retired UFC Fighter Chris Leben Announces Ambitions To Work Back In The Cage

Retired UFC fighter Chris Leben might be making his return to the MMA cage, but not as a competitor.

Leben announced on Thursday that he will be taking classes in order to become a referee in the sport of MMA.

“La bound. Herb Deans referee course starts tomorrow. I’m super excited,” Leben said on his Facebook page.

Herb Dean is among the most respected MMA officials in the world. He is also one of the most recognizable figures in the sport and is a great choice for Leben to learn from.

Leben last fought in 2013. He retired from the sport after going on a four-fight losing streak. In his last fight, Leben lost to middleweight prospect Uriah Hall by TKO.

Leben’s UFC career was highlighted by wins over Aaron Simpson, Yoshihiro Akiyama, and Wanderlei Silva. He was also a contestant on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter.
