Tecia Torres Eyeing Trilogy Fight With Champ “Thug” Rose After This Weekend’s Waterson Fight

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight Tecia Torres is gearing up for her next octagon performance. That in mind, “The Tiny Tornado” is already looking forward to what may come after.

UFC 218 goes down Saturday night, Dec. 2, inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The mixed martial arts promotion will be presenting a series of entertaining match ups on the night’s card, including a war for strawweight division dominance.

For the fight, Tecia Torres will be going toe-to-toe with Michelle Waterson for the Detroit crowd. Torres is on a two fight winning streak, having most recently submitted Juliana Lima. Waterson is coming off of a tough loss to the now reigning strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, as the two fought at UFC on FOX 24.

Torres is hard in training for her upcoming opponent. That being said, the fighter also has her sights on former opponent Rose Namajunas. The two MMA warriors have throw down twice already, with Torres getting a win over her opponent at Invicta FC 6 and Namajunas getting a win at UFC on FOX 19. With Namajunas now the reigning strawweight champion, Torres is ready for a title shot.

Speaking to Bloody Elbow, Torres broke down her opinion on the matter.

“It’s funny, when we first fought in Invicta, they said that one day we’d fight for the title and I truly believe that one day we will fight for a title. I think Rose is an amazing athlete. I think she’s going to be a good ambassador for the women at 115lbs and I’m happy that she got that title and I think she deserves it. This sport is a business and we all want the same thing, so obviously I want that title, but I’m focused on Michelle right now.”
