Last Weekend A Bellator Fighter Fought After Being Stabbed … And Lost … Is Now Suspended

Bellator fighter Christian Gonzalez received an unusual reason for a medical suspension by the California State Athletic Commission.

Gonzalez was given an indefinite suspension for an unreported stab wound prior to his fight last Saturday at Bellator 170. He was also given an indefinite suspension due to chest pains.

Gonzalez’s suspension can be no less than 45 days and he must serve a minimum of 30 days with no head contact while training following his TKO loss.

Gonzalez was defeated by Danial Rodriguez in the second round of their 182-pound catchweight fight.

After making his professional MMA debut in last February, Gonzalez has achieved a record of 2-1. His first two victories came by TKO.

Bellator 170 took place Jan. 21 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. MMA legend Tito Ortiz fought for the final time in the main event. Ortiz took less than one round to submit former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen with a rear-naked choke.
