Before his fight on Saturday, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone took the time to talk to media about his upcoming fight, giving free beer to fans, fighting at home, and Nate Diaz getting under his skin.
On Saturday, Cerrone will fight Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event of a UFC on FOX event at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
“He was a street fighter before this. He’s a game dude,” Cerrone said. “He’s coming to fight. He’s not coming into my house to lose. He’s tough. He’s going to bring it, but he doesn’t have the skills to beat me.”
Cerrone then went on to reveal that Budweiser had given him 50 free cases of beer, so he will be handing out free beer after his fight.
Despite Masvidal’s heavy trash talk leading up to the fight, Cerrone says he has not got under his skin. He said Nate Diaz was the only fighter to get under his skin and he ended up paying for that when he lost a decision to him in 2011.
Cerrone finished his scrum by talking about getting a title shot. He said he will fight for the title in 2017. Cerrone said he want to fight in March at UFC 209, the same night UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley defends his title against Stephen Thompson. He wants to fight a top contender in the division before fighting for the title.
