Angela Hill was originally set to face Jessica Andrade at UFC 207 in December. The fight was pulled from the card when Hill wasn’t allowed to get a four-month exemption from USADA.
Hill finally was able to obtain that exemption and she returns to the octagon when she faces Andrade at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 104.
“Overkill” was released by the UFC in 2015 and went on to make the most of her opportunity as she’s won four consecutive fights in Invicta FC including a defeat of Livia Renata Souza to capture their flyweight championship.
Hill’s dropped to down to her strawweight and has 115-pound champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her cross hairs. She’s went as far to say that “Joanna Champion” is the easier fight than her opponent this weekend.
“I’m going to call her out,” Hill said on Monday’s, “The MMA Hour“. I’m totally going to call her out. I feel like for me Joanna is an easier fight just because she is not going to go for takedowns, at least not at first. That’s not going to be her plan A. Everyone that I have fought since my first fight, their plan A is to take me down and submit me. So it’s going be a relief for me because I will be able to chill, open up my striking and be able to do what I am used to doing as opposed to hitting, defending, then hitting and moving. I can actually unleash on her, at least once we get comfortable. So I definitely feel Joanna is an easier fight that Andrade is for me. I mean, that’s me.”
Jedrzejczyk is undefeated in 13 fights, seven in the UFC and five of those have been in title fights. She currently doesn’t have a fight scheduled, so a Hill victory over a top contender could give her chance to back up those statements.
