Ultimate Fighting Championship’s biggest star in Conor McGregor has been teasing a transition into the world of boxing, but boss Dana White has repeatedly stated that fight won’t be happening. Instead, White took to TMZ Sports this morning and revealed that McGregor’s next opponent would not be in the ring, but rather inside the octagon under the UFC banner.
White dove into the matter, saying that McGregor will be facing whichever fighter walks out of the octagon with the interim lightweight championship strapped around their waist in the co-main event of “UFC 209”.
“I expect Conor’s next fight to be in the UFC, in mixed martial arts, and the winner of Khabib and Ferguson [at UFC 209].”
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will be fighting for the right to square off with McGregor at a later date, most likely after the Irish champion’s son is born.
Who do you think will walk out of the cage with their hands held high in victory? Who has a better shot at taking McGregor down: Nurmagomedov or Ferguson? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comment section below!
