Ultimate Fighting Championship created an interim lightweight championship due to the absence of McGregor and the fate of that newly created belt will be decided in the co-main event of “UFC 209”.

Top-ranked Tony Ferguson will be stepping into the octagon across from Khabib Nurmagomedov and whoever walks out with the gold strapped around their waist will likely go on to face Conor at a later date.

The world knows there is no shortage of confidence in McGregor’s mind, but Ferguson wants it to be known that he believes he has what it takes as well.
