George St-Pierre’s team is looking for the best possible comeback bout for the former UFC welterweight champion. Firas Zahabi, head coach of Tristar gym, is looking for an “epic” one.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Zahabi said
“My ideal scenario, I don’t know if it’s still up for grabs, but I was really happy when there was a buzzing of Bisping or McGregor. I thought those two would be two epic fights. One, he would go a little lower; one, he would go a little higher. But those are really, really intriguing fights. Of course, Tyron Woodley, he’s the champion and et cetera, but he has his fight with ‘Wonderboy’. And if ‘Wonderboy’ wins, then they’ll have a trilogy. And of course we don’t want to fight with ‘Wonderboy,’ we go way back together.”
Zahabi also mentioned that he dose not imagine Pierre fighting in a three round bout. A five round bout is what he is aiming for.
While Conor McGregor has not had much to say about Pierre’s immanent return, Bisping recently went to social media to show his support.
In either fashion, Pierre’s return to the octagon would certainly be astoundingly exciting, if these hopes can manage to come into fruition.
George St-Pierre’s most recent bout was against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 back in 2013. He won via split decision.
Pierre is currently 25-2.
