McCall’s Curse Continues, Pulled From UFC 208 Hours Before Showtime

One of the best flyweights in mixed martial arts (MMA), Ian McCall, has been released from his UFC contract.

Saturday’s flyweight fight between Ian McCall and Jarred Brooks has been canceled for UFC 208.

Saturday afternoon, McCall was hospitalized with gastrointestinal issues. His doctor recommended him drop out of the fight.

This is the fifth straight fight McCall has had canceled. The last four have happened during fight week.

In November, McCall was scheduled to fight Neil Seery in Ireland, but got sick the day before the fight. In September, McCall was scheduled to fight Ray Borg at UFC 203, but Borg got sick during fight week. In July, at UFC 201, McCall was scheduled to fight Justin Scoggins, but the fight was canceled due to Scoggins inability to make weight.

McCall has not fought since Jan. 2015 when he lost a decision to John Lineker.

UFC 208 will feature the first ever women’s featherweight title fight in UFC history. Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm will fight Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship in the main event.
