Wilson Reis and Ulka Sasaki met in the middle of the octagon during the preliminary portion of “UFC 208: Holm vs. De Randamie” on FS1 to battle for flyweight supremacy. Reis was hoping to prove he is still championship material while Sasaki was simply looking to turn some heads and make a name for himself with an underdog win.
Sasaki stormed to the center of the octagon as soon as the fight started, willing to go toe-to-toe with Reis. Reis shot for a takedown just a minute into the fight and was put in a bad position almost immediately. Sasaki made his way back to his feet quickly and proceeded to pepper and mock Reis with pawing jabs from a distance. Sasaki got taken down after landing a couple more soft shots; Reis got in a position where he could land a couple short forearms. Sasaki would make it back to his feet but it wasn’t long before the horn sounded.
Sasaki was taken to the mat as soon as the second round started and Reis took his back within twenty seconds. Sasaki, again, showed great patience on the ground and made his way back to his feet. Sasaki shot for a takedown and while it was well-timed, Reis stuffed it with authority and gained top control. Reis took the back of Sasaki and the Japanese fighter fought off the choke and crank to see another round.
Sasaki teased a rear naked choke in the final minute of the final round, gaining back control but he opted to batter him with angles from a bizarre angle. Time expired with Sasaki pummeling him.
Wilson Reis def. Ulka Sasaki by way of Unanmious Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
