When fighters sign the dotted lines and make their next bout official, it is their responsibility to not only walk into the fight as mentally and physically prepared as possible but to make sure they meet the weight limit for their division. With the United States Anti-Doping Agency cracking down and banning the use of IVs to help fighters rehydrate, fighters are missing their mark more often than ever before.
Fighters who fail to miss the mark are often penalized twenty-percent of their purse, which at least half of which is usually given to the fighter in the opposing corner. The California State Athletic Commission is proposing to make the punishment even harsher, however.
MMA Fighting obtained documents that reveal CSAC’s grand plan that could also penalize twenty-percent of the fighter’s win purse as well if they miss weight. Do you think this is a fair punishment? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
