Fight fans around the world woke up to disappointing news as it was announced earlier that the UFC 209 interim lightweight title fight between Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson was cancelled. Rumors began to surface after it was revealed that Khabib was in the hospital as the result of a difficult weight cut, and his removal was officially confirmed by the UFC after the 11am weigh-in cut off time had expired.
A lot of fighters were willing to step in on twenty four hours notice, including Michael Johnson who said that he was ready and willing but Ferguson declined the fight. Tony responded to Johnson on social media to let him know that he was also willing to take the fight, but the UFC wanted to pay him less.
Check it out!
