Tomorrow’s Invicta Fight Scrapped After Massive Missed Weight

While Ultimate Fighting Championship’s and Bellator’s schedules are both empty this weekend, there is still premier women’s mixed martial arts to tune into on Saturday evening with “Invicta FC 22: Evinger vs. Kunitskaya 2”. Tanya Evinger will be stepping into the cage to defend her bantamweight championship against Yana Kunitskaya. The bout will be available for streaming on “UFC Fight Pass” while they broadcast live from the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.

Janaisa Morandin was scheduled to square off with Jinh Yu Frey, however, Morandin came in 5.2 pounds overweight. Frey explained on her Instagram page that the fight would still go on if Morandin came within a 3.5 pound limit, but that did not happen. Frey broke the news on her social media:

“Unfortunately my fight has been scratched. My opponent came in 5.2 lbs over the weight limit. We knew she probably would and we’re willing to accept up to 3.5 lbs over. We also offered a stipulation that she would have to do a same day weigh in prior to the fight. This did not come to fruition. I am disappointed after the work I put in for camp and the weight cut. I am also upset that the people who put their faith in me for this camp have been let down. A huge thanks for your belief and support @victorybeefllc @onnit @docsmouthguards @hypersportswear @trent.cotney @cruzcombat Thanks to my coaches, training partners, and fans as well.”
