Darren Stewart and Francimar Barroso were looking to settle the score at “UFC Fight Night 107” after the result of their first meeting was changed to a no contest. Stewart had knocked Barroso out in their first meeting, but an accidental headbutt would force the commission to eventually change the result.
The feeling out process lasted longer than the fans in the O2 Arena wanted it to, and when action finally picked up Barroso cut it off by pushing Stewart up against the fence while working for a takedown. Barroso went right back to working for the takedown in the second but after the referee realized he was simply stalling, the action was reset in the middle of the octagon.
The final round left a lot to be desired as the referee had to ask both fighters to “engage” several times while they circled around the middle of the octagon. When they finally engaged, they resumed the position that forced them to reset back in the center of the octagon in the first place: Barroso pressing Stewart for a takedown along the fence.
Stewart started to press forward with just a minute remaining in the fight, but it was too little too late as Barroso was able to simply cut off his momentum by landing a headkick as the times expired.
Francimar Barroso def. Darren Stewart by way of Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
